solar eclipse on the 19th of march!
more from my last radio show of this week, Tuesday march 13th at 8am:
you know when i was 12 it occurred to me that it was time to buy my first album. so i went to macy's at the mall in Huntington, Long Island. i believe my mother took me there and i had a look around the music dept. for quite some time. It was the very early 70's. i picked the jackson five.
i felt michael's voice was astonishing on the track "I'll be there"
i still do.
then for some reason when i told a friend of my selection she made fun of me. like i had bought something from another popular family singing group at the time, the Osmond Brothers.
naturally i was insulted. yet had i made a mistake? how easily we are swayed by other's opinions when we are young.
fortunately i would listen to my album and still love the song and i didn't care what she or anyone had to say. i knew what i liked musically. we all do. and at a very young age.
last night i was watching the mtv music awards on tv which i just started to watch after maybe 6 years of abstinence. and which i will turn off this coming May.
And Michael Jackson came on the stage to accept an award from the Guiness Book of World Records for
"Thriller", the most sold album of all time.
;)
